A Spiritual Solution for a Spiritual Crisis

I would like to add a comment on the entry regarding the massacre of the innocents in Norway.  We see many events taking place in the world and feel powerless against them.  But this powerlessness is the result of the projections of those who seek control for their fear of freedom.
I am immediately reminded of the parable of the Grand Inquisitor in The Brothers Karamozov, when the Grand Inquisitor faces Christ and says,

Didst Thou not often say then: “I will make you free”? …For fifteen centuries we have been wrestling with Thy freedom, but now it is over for good…But let me tell Thee that now, today, people are more persuaded than ever that they have perfect freedom, yet they have brought their freedom to us and laid it humbly at our feet.”

He also says, “Instead of taking freedom from them, Thou made it greater than ever! Didst Thou forget that man prefers peace and even death, to freedom of choice in the knowledge of good and evil.  Nothing is more seductive for man than his freedom of conscience, but nothing is a greater cause of suffering.”

The argument made by the Grand Inquisitor is that security(bread)  trumps freedom.  The power elite may, as represented by the Grand Inquisitor offer bread. He cannot offer freedom; it is already ours.  The deep conflict we face is internal spiritual authority vs. external political power.
I reject the idea that a free society cannot offer security as I reject  the notion that a secure society, such as that designed by the so-called intellectuals and power brokers and called the One World Order, can can offer freedom.
What confronts the world today is a spiritual crisis for which there is only a spiritual solution. The temporal solution amounts an ant colony; the emasculation of world spiritual potential by “enlightened” secular society.  What is taking place is the separating of light and darkness.  In the words of Bob Dylan, “There’s a battle outside and its raging.  It will soon shake your windows and rattle your walls, for the times they are a-changin.”
Yes indeed they are.  And this battle will be won when the most deeply cherished values and core beliefs of Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, etc. form the moral imperatives for justice, freedom and brotherhood. That will reweave the spiritual fabric that has held civilization together, but which now is destined to be taken to the next highest level as it emerges from this crisis.
Some of our weapons are those of the dissidents of the Soviet Union and the Velvet Revolution as described by the Russian dissident Yuri Yarmin-Agaev:
1. Operate in the open
2. Non-violence
3. Resolve. Without it, you will be broken
I would also add prayer, non-attachment and forgiveness.  I am sure this list should be expanded.

These are my thoughts on a sad day.
